A walk around Clarke’s Gully on the newly reconstructed boardwalk will take you back in time to your childhood. When we were boys and dreaming of being hockey stars this was our MapleLeaf Gardens, our Montreal Forum, Madison Square Garden or whatever your favorite NHL team might be. When you finally got drafted you would hit the ice at Beaver Pond which is now the site of a beautiful day park, which honours the memory of two young buddies who lost their lives there in the early 1950’s. Anyone remember when NHL Hockey cards would come in the Jelly? We would collect them and trade for different players. An elderly gentleman was watching a bunch of boys playing on the Gully one day, he came over and quietly pronounced, “it won’t be tomorrow when you gets in the Jelly!” Oh yes, you can also relax and enjoy nature by feeding the ducks.
